Skin Care the Natural Way

by Adam Short

As the old saying goes, “you are what you eat.” However, in terms of natural skin care diet is a great place to start, but by no means does good skin care stop there. When it comes to natural skin care it is not only about what you eat but also how you care for yourself. Healthy, glowing skin is a visible indication of good physical health and a balanced diet. Conversely, problem skin is often an outward indication of an inner imbalance or poor nutritional habits. If you are looking to improve your skin’s tone and appearance try the following tips to help you look and feel your best.

Adopt a can-do attitude

Your attitude shapes your experience. If you move through the world constantly fraught with worry and anxiety your health and appearance will be negatively impacted with time. Make a concerted effort to avoid frowning, and smile often. Studies show that simply smiling can help turn a sour mood around.

Care for your skin from the inside out

Small changes such as ingesting the recommended daily allowance of fiber and water can help to keep your skin fresh and supple. You can be assured of getting the proper amount of fiber in your diet by including at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. One serving is comprised of a medium apple, a half-cup of spinach or a cup of tomato juice. You can also get your servings in by including lettuce and tomato on sandwiches, substituting or adding carrot sticks to your lunch, or switching to brown instead of white rice. Flaxseed, nuts and beans are all excellent sources of fiber and can be easily incorporated into any diet. It is also a good idea to avoid nicotine, excessive sugar, alcohol, fried and processed foods as these contribute to problem skin. Keep a bottle or glass of water on hand at all times and aim to drink at least half your weight in ounces each day. For example, if you weigh 120lbs, try to take in at least 60 ounces of water each day. There are a number of foods, such as lettuce and certain fruits, with high water content that you can use to help boost your water intake. Water baths your cells and helps to eliminate toxins; it also keeps you hydrated from the inside. The result; beautiful, healthy skin.

Exfoliate and move

Your skin is a living organ; in fact, it is the largest elimination organ of the body. You can help facilitate this process with exfoliation and exercise. With exfoliation, dry, rough and dead skin cells are eliminated from the top layer of your skin revealing the glowing skin underneath. Exfoliation becomes more important with aging as the process of generating new skin cells slows, thus causing a dull complexion. There are a number of commercially available products that exfoliate. These include various scrubs with microbeads, sugar, salt and crushed walnut shells. You might also try using cloths specially designed for this purpose, or making your own preparation. Be careful to test any products for sensitivity before applying to the skin. Also, be sure to avoid using these products in sensitive areas such as around the eyes.

Exercise is also an important component of natural skin care. In addition to cardiovascular and respiratory benefits, both important for skin health, exercise helps the body release toxins through the skin with perspiration. Aim to get at least thirty minutes of exercise at least three times each week. Whatever activity you choose should take you within 50-70% of your target heart rate for best results.

Moisturize and protect against the elements

Just as it is important to care for skin from the inside out it is also important to employ some skin care tips from the outside in. Most importantly, keep your face clean and dry. Wash your face with a mild, non-irritating cleanser at least twice daily and after exercise. Avoid using water that is too hot as it can dry your skin, robbing it of its healthy glow. Apply a toner with light, upward strokes. Finally, apply a moisturizer that includes sunscreen in summer and winter when the rays of the sun can also be damaging. For best results apply moisturizer to still damp skin to create the most effective moisture barrier. In addition to sunscreen, you may want to consider a hat if you have particularly sensitive or fair skin.

Rest well

The average adult needs 7-9 hours sleep each evening; however, most get significantly less. You can improve your skin’s health and appearance simply by getting a good night’s sleep. If worries keep you awake try creating a to-do list or a journal to ease your mind. You should also avoid upsetting activities, such as drinking alcohol, heavy exercise or watching the news, within several hours of bedtime as these can disturb restful sleep.

We all want to look and feel our best and good skin care is a significant contributing factor. Maintain your skin with a sensible diet, exercise, rest and a can-do attitude.

Serious Skin Care: Beyond the Basics of Soap

by Dr. Edward F. Group III, DC, Ph.D, ND, DACBN

Skin care means different things to different people. Some consider merely washing their face on a daily basis to be a good skin care routine. Others would not leave the house without cleansing, toning, moisturizing, applying sun block, and concealing blemishes. For those of you who are ready to move beyond the basics of soap, this article is for you. Read on to learn more about serious skin care, serious skin care products, and what you can do to solve serious skin care dilemmas.

Serious Skin Care Routines

Serious skin care doesn’t mean that you have to spend endless hours in the bathroom. It means taking the time to look at your skin and what products and techniques can keep it looking and feeling great. Here’s a serious skin care routine that can be completed in minutes:

  1. Clean Up: Soap may be great for the rest of your body, but many dermatologists agree that it can be too drying for even the heartiest facial skin. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to find a natural facial cleansing gel or face wash that is specially suited to your skin type. Wash your face twice a day with warm purified water and a facial cleanser to remove any perspiration, pollutants, and debris that may accumulate there.

  2. Get Toned: If you have dry, sensitive or combination skin, your skin may be irritated by the drying ingredients like alcohol and acetone found in most skin toners. Skip this step if you have a problem with irritation. However, if you have oil or combination skin, you face will likely benefit from the extra cleansing and pH restoration of a alcohol and acetone free skin toner.

  3. For Your Eyes Only: Eye cream can do wonders to improve the condition of the delicate skin around your eyes. It can also help imperfections such as dark circles and bags, and it can minimize the appearance of fine lines. A good all in one natural eye and facial cream is “Parfait Visage”.

  4. Use Protection: Serious skin care means not only washing, but also protecting your skin from potential damage. Moisturizers and sun block provide good skin protection. Moisturizers hydrate your skin and help to keep dust, debris, and environmental pollutants out of your pores. Sun block protects your face from the sun’s damaging rays. Ultraviolet radiation can lead to damage such as wrinkles, age spots, freckles, moles, rough spots, and even cancer. To save time, use a moisturizer that contains sunscreen with at least an SPF 15.

Serious Skin Care Solutions

Even with a flawless skin care routine, you are likely to encounter blemishes and other skin care dilemmas.

Acne: Acne is term for a skin condition that includes pimples, blemishes, whiteheads, blackheads, and cysts. The most important rule to remember if you develop acne is that you should never pick or squeeze acne blemishes. This can lead to the spread of acne and the development of acne scars. Instead, there are a number of herbal, homeopathic, and traditional preparations that can be used to treat this condition. For more information on natural acne remedies visit http://www.acne-answers.org.

Under eye Circles and Bags: Lack of sleep, allergies, or skin irritations may sometimes cause the skin around the eyes to appear puffy and darkened. If you are prone to these conditions, look for an eye cream that contains shea butter. This natural ingredient extracted from the Central African Mangifolia tree can reduce skin discolorations, restore skin tone, and diminish fine lines.

Wrinkles: Wrinkles are quite literally a sign of the times. There are a number of products and techniques available today to remove or diminish wrinkles. They range from over the counter anti-wrinkle creams to expensive and intrusive plastic surgery. You can choose which method works best for you based on the number of wrinkles you have, and how much you are bothered by them. Protecting your skin from sun damage is the very best thing you can do to prevent wrinkles from developing in the first place. Use a sunscreen with at least an SPF 15 everyday.

Age Spots: Age spots develop over time on areas of the body that have been exposed to the sun. These spots are particularly bothersome when they occur on the face. There are several products on the market such as fade creams and retinols that can diminish the appearance. However, you should always consult your health care provider before attempting to treat age spots. These spots could be a precursor to cancer, and your doctor should examine them carefully to rule out a more serious illness.

Eczema: This condition varies in its symptoms and severity from person to person. It can manifest either as patches of dry irritated skin, or it can produce areas of broken, swollen, and bleeding skin. Eczema can either be genetically inherited or it can occur as a reaction to potent allergy causing irritants such as nickel, and some chemicals. If you are plagued by this skin condition, see your health care provider to determine the best course of action. Medications, creams, and lifestyle changes such as switching detergents and clothing fabrics, may be necessary. It may also be helpful to avoid dietary irritants such as dairy and wheat products, processed foods, citrus fruits, alcohol, coffee and chocolate

Essential Skin Care Products for Men

by Alisha Burke

More often than not, when we are discussing skin care products, the ensuing conversation tends to focus on products for women. Although most skin care products are designed with women in mind, there is a growing market for quality skin care products for men. A number of forward thinking companies have acknowledged this untapped market, and have released a number of products designed for men. I recently reviewed some of these products, with the help of a male friend. The following are some of the best in skin care products for men.

Neutrogena has released an excellent line of products, available in two specific product categories; Skin Clearing and Razor Defense. The Skin Clearing line is designed to help men that have problems with Acne. This category includes a facial wash, shaving cream, and an after shave astringent. The Razor Defense series is intended for use by men with no specific skin conditions and includes a gentle face scrub, shave gel, and face lotion. They all have a fresh, clean smell and are highly effective.

Aveda also offers some wonderful products for men. Their products are designed with the highest quality standards, and they include a number of certified organic ingredients. The Rosemary Mint Shaving Gel is absolutely incredible. It has organic lavender, marjoram, peppermint, and rosemary in it. It also has coconut-derived moisturizers that assist in providing a smooth, friction-free shave. Aveda also has a shampoo/body bar that provides an invigorating wash. It is made with coconut and almonds, both of which are very good for your skin.

We also sampled a number of fine products from Jurlique. We purchased the Men's Deluxe Travel Kit which included shaving gel, foaming face cleanser, antioxidant moisturizer, moisturizing lotion, as well as shower and shampoo gel. The travel kit even came with its very own face towel! All of the organic ingredients in these products are grown in southern Australia, and they are included in these products using a unique biointrinsic extraction process. Jurlique is a wonderful company with some excellent products that come highly recommended.

There are a lot of quality products on the market for men. I would recommend trying a number of different products, in order to find the one you like best. While using quality skin care products may not be a significant priority for men, we hope that through education and insightful information this will change. Men may not care to learn the truth about eye creams, but they should care about taking care of themselves. Ladies, perhaps you could give them a helping hand?

Alisha Burke loves getting facials. When she is not daydreaming about her next trip to the spa, she writes for yourskin101.com – an online resource dedicated to helping you care for your skin, with information about dry skin care, blemish removal and more.

Understanding Cosmetics

by Redi Choetics

Commonly, cosmetics means a preparation, such as powder or a skin cream, designed to beautify the body by direct application or it may be something superficial that is used to cover a deficiency or defect.

Cosmetics serve to beautify the body, especially the face and hair. Cosmetic surgery means to serve to modify or improve the appearance of a physical feature, defect, or irregularity. Cosmetics can be used on objects too other than human beings, which, however would be decorative rather than functional, example, cosmetic fenders on cars.

Cosmetics also means lacking depth or significance or superficial. For instance, anybody can make a few cosmetic changes to look different in order to hide identity.

A cosmetologist or beautician or beauty specialist use cosmetic products to a large extent. They specialize in giving beauty treatments, usually to women. A cosmetologist is proficient in hair treatments, facials and other skin treatments and nail treatments.

Some cosmetologists specialize in just one of these areas. The sub-categories of cosmetologist are hair stylist, shampooer, manicurist, estheticians and electrologists. Often cosmetologists specialize in more than one of these categories.

Cosmetic products are preparations externally applied to change or enhance the beauty of skin, hair, nails, lips, and eyes. The use of body paint for ornamental and religious purposes has been common among primitive peoples from prehistoric times. Body-marking, painting, tattooing, or scarification by cutting or burning of the body for ritual, esthetic, medicinal, magic, or religious purposes are very common.

Ointments, balms, powders, and hair dyes have also been used from primitive times. Many cosmetics originated in Asia, but their ingredients and use are first documented in Egypt; ancient tombs have yielded kohl pots or cosmetic jars and applicators or cosmetic spoons. The Egyptians used kohl to darken their eyes. A raw paint was used on the face, and palms were often dyed with henna. Greek women used charcoal pencils and rouge sticks of alkanet and coated their faces with powder, which often contained dangerous lead compounds. Beauty aids reached a peak in imperial Rome. They used chalk for the face and a rouge called fucus-and ladies required the services of slaves adept in their use.

In Asia, specially in India, Ayurvedic preparations are used instead of the synthetic ones. In Ayurvedic preparations, mostly the raw material used are from natural sources like herbs, shrubs, trees or earth elements and water.

Many cosmetics survived the Middle Ages, and Crusaders brought back rare Eastern oils and perfumes. In the Renaissance, cosmetics, usually white-lead powder and vermilion, were used profligately. Since the 17th cent, recipes and books on the toilette abounded. Professional cosmetologists began to appear, and luxurious prescriptions often included a bath in wine or milk of various animals. With the advent of French revolution, the use of cosmetics virtually disappeared.

The year 1900 saw a revival of their use, accompanied by the manufacture of beauty aids on a scientific basis in France. Since then the industry has grown to tremendous proportions with products manufactured for every conceivable use. The cosmetics business flourished throughout the later 20th cent. By the beginning of the 21st cent. the cosmetics industry was mostly run by large corporations and had become a multibillion dollar enterprise.

Acne - Home Remedies

by Dr. Edward F. Group III, DC, Ph.D, ND, DACBN

Diet and Good Nutrition

Good nutrition is the foundation for healthy skin. A well-balanced diet will ensure that your body receives the vitamins and mineral it needs to support and maintain the health of the skin. Foods rich in sulphur, such as onions and garlic, may be particularly helpful to those who suffer from acne. There are also several nutritional supplements that may be helpful in the maintenance of healthy skin. Supplements of b-complex vitamins as well as vitamin C, and A are very important for the strength, growth, and vitality of the skin. Vitamin E and the mineral zinc orotate are also useful supplements as they both contain antioxidants that can help protect the skin from damage. And don't underestimate the power of water. Water helps to hydrate the skin, plump up the glands, and move waste and nutrients through the system. Plan on drinking at least six to eight glasses of purified water each day to keep skin healthy and deter the development of acne. We recommend using a Welln!

ess Water purification system available at www.ghchealth.com.

Cleansing

In order to prevent or alleviate acne, you need to keep you skin nourished from the inside and clean on the outside. People who suffer from acne need to be especially careful about the methods and products used to cleanse the skin.

Choose gentle herbal facial cleansers and moisturizers, and use them at least twice throughout the day to remove debris, oil, perspiration, and pollutants that have built up on the skin. There are several products on the market that are made exclusively for acne-prone skin. These products are designed to reduce the incidence of acne breakouts. The best product available is Oxy-Skin™. A non-oily face wash that contains tea tree oil or echinacea can also help to slow or halt the development of acne. Excessive washing will not help reduce acne, and in fact it can actually aggravate it. Rather, wash your face twice a day in the morning and evenings and rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Moisturizers and Cosmetics

As with facial cleansers, be sure to choose moisturizers and cosmetics that will work well with your skin type. Avoid oily cosmetics or any facial products that contain socetyl stearate, isopropyl isostearate, isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl myristate, parabens and sodium chloride, as these ingredients can cause acne. Cosmetics are a major cause of acne breakouts for adult women. Wear the least amount of makeup you feel comfortable with, to avoid irritation to your skin and allow your skin to receive an ample supply of oxygen.

Hands Off!

As hard as it can be to resist, picking or squeezing at pimples or blemishes will really only make them worse. In fact, it can cause open sores that lead to infection. Normally, a pimple will last any where from one to four weeks. But it will go away on its own. And picking or squeezing it will not make it go away any faster.

Herbal Acne Remedies

Herbal remedies can be very useful in the treatment and prevention of acne. Chamomile, lavender, juniper, bergamot, dandelion root, and burdock root can all be used to reduce toxicity in the skin and improve its overall condition. Other herbs like echinacea and poke root have anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce the swelling and reduce of the blocked oil gland. Red clover may be beneficial for its estrogenic action and witch hazel has excellent astringent properties and may be very effective for cleansing acne prone skin.

Homemade Acne Remedies

In addition to store bought herbal and conventional acne preparation. There are several recipes that you can make at home to treat your acne prone skin.

Poultices: You can make a poultice out of several natural ingredients and apply it to the affected area. Here are a few poultice combinations that are useful in the treatment and prevention of acne. Unless the directions state otherwise, apply these poultices directly to the acne affected area and wash off thoroughly after twenty to thirty minutes.

  • Ginger and milk
  • Honey and cinnamon (Use this poultice at night and remove it the next morning with warm water.)
  • Ground orange peel and water
  • Salt and vinegar
  • Turmeric and vinegar
  • Lemon juice and cinnamon
  • Ground sesame seeds and water (This poultice is especially effective at reducing inflammation.)

Topical Acne Treatments: You can use the following treatments to target specific acne related problems like swelling or redness.

  • Rub fresh garlic on acne at frequent intervals to acne to reduce both redness and swelling.
  • Use the juice of a fresh, raw papaya to relieve swelling acne.
  • Rub fresh mint juice over acne to shrink inflamed acne.
  • Drink wheat grass juice to prevent and cure acne.

Anti Aging Skin Care Products: The Evolution

by Oxana Strelnikova

During the last 10 years more attention is paid to the anti aging skin care. Developments within this category were influenced by such factors as competition among the major brands, introduction of new technologies and new ingredients, as well as worldwide increase in demand for the so-called "rejuvenating cosmetics". People have no intentions of putting up with aging. Today they are turning to alternative therapies and anti aging products; however, they will not spend money on products which do not produce the wished results.

First anti aging skin care products appeared during the late 1980s. The first liposome ingredient delivery system was part of first generation anti aging skin care.

David Jago, an expert in the market analysis for MINTEL, evaluates the changes, which have taken place since then: "At present, the special properties, ingredients and benefits of the products are clearly shown on the label. In the late 1980s, it was only said that those products were firming, softening the skin, reducing lines etc., but their functional ingredients were usually not disclosed. Today’s press often informs us of specific ingredients and their benefits, thus contributing to the consumers’ education". As a result, there appeared a category of skin care products intended for specific age groups or needs. Usually, women aim at making their aging skin look younger, or their young skin - healthier.

In the beginning of 1990s, many anti aging skin care ingredients have been studied. The most important of those, Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (AHA), became the first ingredients to affect the aging skin. Sally Penford, of the International Dermal Institute, a postgraduate training school for therapists, comments: "It stimulated women to start considering cosmetic surgery, glycolic acid peels and laser skin treatments".

Another "great revolution" in anti aging skin care has been in the use of A, C and E vitamins, as well as group B vitamins and main fatty acids – they all have a special role of agents preventing premature aging. Of course they do not make miracles, but can support the good condition of the skin. As skin ages and is repeatedly exposed to harmful UV rays, the level of vitamin A, produced in the body, constantly decreases. The skin renewal processes slow down and the epidermal layer becomes progressively thinner. Some of the research of the ingredients, such as vitamin C, was held in 1990s. Further, scientists identified two key chemical "helpers" to assist in the delivery of vitamin C through the skin.

The formulations derived from it led to the development of anti aging skin care products, containing vitamin C and products, which contained a combination of vitamin C and pure Retinol (until recently, it has been extremely hard to combine both Retinol and vitamin C together in a stable formulation, as both ingredients are easily oxidized, when exposed to the air, and become inactive). In 1990s this type of skin care was already produced all over the world.

Further on, a great deal of interest in the anti-oxidants has been shown. A lot of studies have been done which show that protecting the skin can delay the onset of aging. The SUVIMAX studies in France showed that the use of anti-oxidants on the skin slows down the aging process. It is also possible to reduce lines and improve skin firmness.

Benefits of anti-oxidants were detected in grape seeds extracts. After that, cosmetic companies started using these benefits in their skin care products. Grape polyphenols are natural compounds derived from green grape seed extract which have been shown to have a powerful anti-oxidant effect. They shield the skin from the aggression of a wide range of free radicals and are known to help maintain the skin's moisture levels.

In the middle of 1990s Estee Lauder has completed research into understanding more about skin cells losing energy. Dr. Maes, Vice-President Research and Development, Estee Lauder Worldwide, explains: "We cannot make the skin look like when it was in youth. Technologies can decrease the lines by 50%, but we will never decrease them by 100%. We have studied skin samples and found that its thickness is already decreasing from the age of 20. In biological terms, if the cells are losing energy they will also lose their ability to protect themselves against the environment."

He compares this loss of energy to that of a battery running low which needs to be recharged. Thus, to slow down aging and protect the skin cells, manufacturers started using anti-oxidants, sunscreens and skin energizing technologies to “recharge” cells. They are described as a next generation skin nourishers that enable skin to tap into a fuel source of bio-available micro-nutrients.

The scientists have studied different types of skin aging and it means that they are capable of developing skin care which will effectively abate aging. It is recognized that 90% of skin damage is caused by external environmental aging. This includes smoking, wind, chemicals, and, most importantly, UV radiation. The level of pollution increases so quickly that skin cells can not develop self-protection mechanisms. Free radicals or oxidants are naturally generated in the body as a reaction to the aggression of external, environmental factors as well as internal factors such as stress and tiredness. A consequence of this aggression is an acceleration of the skin's aging process. Most of skin damage is done in the early years and people do not see the results of this until they are in their forties and fifties.

The reason for this is due to the skin's chronological aging, which we can do nothing about. Internal, chronological aging is largely a consequence of genetics and affects skin all over the body.

Modern scientific research in skin care and the growing knowledge of the skin's physiology mean that it is possible to stop and even repair skin damage which occurs later on in life. Thus, the latest thinking and research is focused on developing skin protection not from a plain Sun Protection Factor but from the cells themselves. The case in point is a new area of cosmetology (allocosmetics) and skin care products of modern generation of late 1990s, which are based on cell extracts that have lately drawn much attention of scientists. Cells can segment themselves and reproduce identical copies, replace old skin cells by new ones of the same type, take part in biochemical skin processes. This is what we call lifetime self-rejuvenation.

The strides made in anti aging technology over the past decade have been astounding and clearly show no signs of abating. We can be certain that there will be many more exciting achievements in anti aging skin care technology to come.

Men’s Skin Care

by Heather Hawthorne

Believe it or not men have the same skin care issues as women. We usually do not hear about them, however, because the media tends not to focus on them as much in our society. Nonetheless, men get wrinkles and pimples, they have dry skin and they have oily skin, they are prone to skin cancer, and many struggle with ingrown hairs much of their lives. Now that these concerns have been brought to light, the question is: how do men construct a regimen that is best for them?

Let’s start by mentioning the differences between men and women’s skin care. In general, men don’t spend as much money on skin care products as women; men don’t wear as much make-up as women; and men shave their facial hair much more than women do. There are product lines on the market that target men only, and there are product lines that cater to both men and women. Furthermore, men tend to go for basic, no frills labeling and products that are multi-purpose, such as a soap that can be used for hair, face and body.

Here is a good all-purpose skin care regime for men to follow: cleanse morning and evening with a gentle facial cleanser (no bar soap since it will only dry out skin and lead to problems), use a mild shaving product when shaving, exfoliate areas not shaved or if you don’t shave regularly exfoliate the entire face 1-3 times per week, treat breakouts with a disinfecting product, use sunscreen with SPF of 15 everyday, and use a moisturizer over areas that are dry.

Since shaving facial hair sets men apart from women, the subject should be discussed further. If you suffer from ingrown hairs, razor burn or any other kind of irritating reaction from shaving, I want you to know that this isn’t normal. If you’ve ever wondered why aftershave products sting or even if they should, just remember “pain equals no gain”. Using a razor over your skin scraps the surface of your skin leaving it vulnerable; if you apply a product with an irritating ingredient afterwards, it is going to sting.

If you experience rash like reactions after shaving, most likely it is due to the product being used before, during or after shaving. Many shaving products contain ingredients that may sound nice on the label, but in reality they are very irritating to your skin. Here are some common ingredients put in shaving products that tend to cause problems: alcohol, menthol, camphor and peppermint. If you have products with any of these ingredients and you experience irritation with shaving, I suggest trying something new.

Look for shaving creams, foams or gels that contain emollient ingredients to allow for a moisturized, calm, more soothed skin. Look for aloe, silicone, or allantoin to be listed in the first 5 or so ingredients of a shaving product. On the front of shaving products many times the word “enriched” indicates it may contain skin soothing vitamins and emollient ingredients that will moisturize your skin instead of drying it out. Another important indicator of a potentially non-irritating product is “alcohol free.”

So, to the men who are reading this, remember, “pain equals no gain.” If the shaving product you’ve been using seems to irritate your skin, it is time for you to try something new. For all the ladies, take my advice and pick up some new shaving cream for the man in your life and casually swap it with what he is using now, he’ll thank you for it eventually.

Skin Health Secrets: How to apply skin care products

by Kathleen Williams

It is pretty well known that different people get different results with the same skin care products. This can be caused by variations in body chemistry, but more often than not it’s because everyone applies skin care products differently.

Of course, if a particular product doesn’t give you the results you expect, it doesn’t always mean you are applying the product incorrectly. Unfortunately, many products just don't work as advertised, no matter what you do! To top that off, some products may work for some people but not for others even when used properly. Nevertheless, when a product doesn’t work, it may often be due to incorrect application.

Products like skin creams, gels, or lotions are a mixture of chemicals that have a biological action, applied topically to the skin. So the effectiveness depends on whether the active ingredients work, and whether they are absorbed properly into your skin. Your skin’s temperature, hydration, environment and other factors will influence your skin's ability to absorb the active ingredients in a product. To be sure that you get optimal effectiveness of you skin care products:

• Cleanse skin before apply
