When you purchase any cosmetics, lotions, creams, makeup or as seen on TV beauty items, make sure you purchase only hypoallergenic products. You want the best care for your skin and people with even the most sensitive skin can use a hypoallergenic product. It doesn't make sense to use harsh cream, lotions or other products meant to soften our skin after all.

If you know a rash is the result of dry skin, make sure you use moisturizing lotion or cream at least twice a day. This will hydrate and soften your skin while reducing the uncomfortable itch. Choose lotions without an added scent as it might irritate your raw skin.

Keep a humidifier in your home to eliminate dry air. You can even keep one in your bedroom to help and hydrate your skin while you sleep. If you find you are itching your rash during the night, it might be time to trim your nails down to prevent further irritation and scabbing.

Choose products that are soapless or neutral to care for your skin. They will still clean without being as harsh on your skin. In addition, wear gloves for cleaning or washing dishes. Avoid getting your hands wet aside from regular washing.

While a rash might simply be dry skin or an allergic reaction, it is always a good idea to get the opinion of a professional. To avoid a rash in the future, keep these tips in mind and keep lots of lotion and cream on hand.
