Before you purchase skin care products to help your acne, you should answer these questions:

1. Do you know your skin type? People with oily skin should choose a gel-based product. A cream is a good choice for those with dry skin. Most people have combination of both dry and oily skin. Pick those products that work best in the afflicted area. If your acne flares up in the oily spots, choose a gel, if dry skin, choose a cream.
2. How sensitive is your skin? The more sensitive, the less active ingredient you will need. A product too strong could actually worsen your acne by causing the skin to increase oil production. Stick with the milder treatments if you have sensitive skin.
